MMCC: Digital Citizenship

Assessing the Accuracy and Reliability of a Source

'CRAAP’ is an acronym that helps you assess the accuracy and reliability of a source. The CRAAP Test was developed by the Meriam Library at California State University, Chico.

CRAAP stands for currency, reliability, authority, accuracy and purpose.

The CRAAP test can be used to  test the  sources used in a news report or you can use it to test the reliability of a website.

Digital Citizenship

What does it mean to be a good digital citizen?

The Office of the eSafety Commissioner defines a  digital citizen as a person with the skills and knowledge to effectively use digital technologies to participate in society, communicate with others and create and consume digital content.

There is a wealth of material online and it is important to know when and how to give credit to the creators of these materials. A good digital citizen respects and acknowledges the intellectual property of other people.  You can read, listen and view many materials online, but this does not mean  that you can make a copy or alter it for your own purpose.
